He/she will coordinate risk management activities and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and trending quality and patient safety information to initiate system changes based on current concepts. Some areas of focus are working with Root Cause Analysis, Patient Safety Incident Reporting, the med error committee, the performance improvement (PI) committee, National Patient Safety Goals, reportable events reporting, Patient Safety Alerts, surveys, and the Safe Medical Device Act.
Provides leadership for safety assessments, facilitates the activities of the patient safety committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based causes for medical error, consults with management and staff, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization.
Qualifications: an advanced degree in a health care related field is desirable.

Ortonville Hospital seeks an Operating Room (OR) Coordinator for coordination of various aspects of surgical care to the operative patient. As a member of the multi-disciplinary care team, the Registered Nurse provides general nursing care to assigned patients and contributes to overall patient care that is guided by the patient care plan, facility policies and procedures and professional standards of practice.
The OR Coordinator must be knowledgeable in the regulatory requirements for nursing and have effective skills in supervision and leadership as well as effective communication skills. Coaching and educating patients and nurses will be ongoing. The OR Coordinator integrates health care for clients from pre-admission to post discharge. The Coordinator must have a strong interest in patient safety and making patient safety a priority. Computer skills are a must. Some additional responsibilities include: daily scheduling of assigned patients’ care activities; assures accurate count, administration and recording of medications and IV solutions; and determines when a physician must be contacted regarding changes in patient condition and administers emergency and CPR treatment to patients. Must utilize independent judgment in various situations to ensure patient or staff safety. Education/Experience: Graduated from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Four (4) years acute care nursing experience with supervisory experience preferred. SD and MN RN licenses required.
