Scope of Practice:

Dr. Benson treats and manages female urinary problems and pelvic floor disorders which includes problems with the vagina, bladder and rectum. Some surgeries can be performed in Ortonville. Unique Medical Experiences and Research: --State and District Delegate, ACOG --Co-Founder, Sanford Native American Pelvic Health Fund --Investigation of differential genetic expression of RNA in patients with Interstitial Cystitis --Use of a Cox-2 inhibitor for preemptive management of postoperative pain after urogynecologic procedures --Postoperative vaginal dilator therapy for dysparuenia (painful intercourse) after mesh augmented vaginal prolapse surgery --Incontinence Inventory of Native Americans - this is a longitudinal study looking at rates of incontinence and pelfic floor disorders in Native Americans of the Northern Plains --Development of a credentialed training program for training physicians in cystoscopy (bladder inspection using a scope) Dr. Benson provides specialty visits in Ortonville one time per month on a Wednesday.
