The Outreach Department of Ortonville Area Health Services offers a wide array of specialty services on our campus for the convenience of our patients and our endeavor to keep health care close to home. These services are available at various times throughout the month.

An audiologist makes twice monthly visits to OAHS to provide hearing services. Her scope of practice includes hearing exams and ordering/testing of hearing aid devices. Physician referrals are not needed. Appointments may be made by calling (320) 598-7556.

Cardiology clinic are provided at least twice monthly at OAHS by specialist Dr. Orvar Jonsson from Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. This specialist prescribes and sets up treatments for chest pain, heart murmurs, blood pressure, angiograms and stress tests. He also provide follow-up care for heart attack patients.

Ortonville Area Health Services offers chemotherapy services on a daily basis. Our chemotherapy suite offers a comfortable environment for the Monday- Friday program. Licensed staff provide the treatment.

The ENT specialist diagnoses and treats ear, nose and throat problems such as recurrent ear infections, sinus problems, hearing problems, hoarse voice, etc. The Dr. also provides allergy consults and skin cancer identification and removal. Tonsillectomies, sinus surgery and placement of ear tubes are performed at OAHS. Dr. Robert Cihak is the ENT specialist provding outreach at OAHS>

GI is short for gastrointestinal disorders and this specialty is provided by three different visiting doctors, Dr. Peter Meier  and Dr. Kelly Ming. The specialists provide colonoscopies (exam of the colon) and UGI Endoscopy (exam of esophagus and stomach). Exams are done four times per month.

The Grief Center provides one-on-one counseling to persons of all ages who may be experiencing grief and loss. Appointments can be made through the Rice Hospice Grief Center, Willmar, MN by calling the office at (320) 231-4714.

A Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine specialist provides care and treatment for gynecological problems. Some surgical procedures can be performed at OAHS. Kevin Benson, MD has a primary clinic in Sioux Falls, SD. GYN services are available twice a month

With the Dialysis Center at OAHS, Dr. Christina Lankhorst from Sanford Clinic in Sioux Falls, SD, Dr. Tina Melanson from Prairie Lakes Specialty Clinic and Dr. Srevi Konkimalla provide outreach services to patients in this area.The specialists are on-site weekly.

Neurologists, Dr. Jerome Freeman and Dr. Bassel Salem from Sanford Neurology Clinic in Sioux Falls, SD, provide treatment and recommendation for neurologic disorders such as seizures, strokes and Parkinson’s Disease. The doctors can also provide nerve conduction studies for arm and leg pain. Neurology services are available monthly..

An oncologist is a cancer specialist who diagnoses and prescribes treatment such as chemotherapy and/or radiation for patients with cancer. Many chemotherapy treatments can be given right here at OAHS. Preston Steen, , MD from Fargo, ND provides at least monthly oncology specialty clinics at OAHS.

The ophthalmology specialty offers consultation, exams and surgical procedures for eye ailments including glaucoma, cataracts and eye infections and injuries. Our specialist is Curtis Wischmeier, MD, based in Aberdeen, SD at the Ophthalmology Associate Clinic.

With specialists from three clinics, our orthopedic or “bone doctors” diagnose and treat broken bones, arthroscopy procedures, total joint replacement (knee, shoulder and hips). Several of these procedures can be performed right in Ortonville. Ortho visits are provided at least weekly by Dr. Michael Vener and Dr. Casey Johnston from Glacial Lakes in Watertown, SD,

Dr. Patrick Retterath from Watertown, SD Innovative Pain Clinic offers treatment for chronic pain and provides injections for back, neck and joints.

The podiatrist provides treatment for toenails, heel and ankle problems. The service is provided weekly by specialists Dr. Steven Saccoman from Willmar and Dr. Scott Torness from Brown Clinic in Watertown. Many of the surgical corrections can be performed in Ortonville.

Surgery is provided in your hometown for such procedures as laparoscopic gallbladder, hernias, colon surgeries and many more. Varicose vein problems and consultations are also available for vascular problems such as aortic aneurysms and lower leg problems.

Specializing in urinary problems, bladder and prostate problems, our urologist provides outreach services one time monthly. Dr. Kevin Unger from Willmar is our urology specialist.

Dr. Greg Schultz from Sanford Health provides vascular services one time per month at Ortonville Area Health Services.
