Big Stone Therapies, Inc. is staffed by Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, PT/OT assistants and Athletic Trainers. The staff provides daily inpatient and outpatient rehab services. Big Stone Therapies, Inc. provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, and occupational health services. In addition, staff provides Athletic Training coverage to area schools. Big Stone Therapies also employs a certified massage therapist.

About Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy services are aimed at preventing the onset and/or slowing the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease and other causes. Our Physical Therapists work with people of all ages who have functional conditions resulting from back and neck injuries, sprains/strains and fractures, arthritis, burns, amputations, stroke, multiple sclerosis, birth defects such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida, injuries related to work and sports and others.

About Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. Occupational therapy gives people the “skills for the job of living” that are needed for independent and satisfying lives. Services typically include:

• Customized treatment programs aimed at improving abilities to carry out the activities of daily living
• Comprehensive evaluation of home and job environments and recommendations on necessary adaptation
• Assessments and treatment for performance skills
• Recommendations and training in the use of adaptive equipment
• Guidance to family members and caregivers.

Our staff was trained by Isernhagen Work Systems. The training included conducting functional capacity evaluations, writing/administering pre-work screens and writing/administering functional job descriptions. These services have been found to decrease workman compensation claims, providing ADA complaint screens, improving return to work criteria and providing a specific description of the worker’s ability. We continue to provide ergonomic evaluations, worksite adaptations, injury prevention education courses and job rotation planning.

About Speech Therapy

Big Stone Therapies offers speech language pathology services to help people of all ages restore, improve, or maintain communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Following a physician’s order, our speech language pathologists evaluate the patient and customize a plan of care that may include a variety of treatments specific to the patient’s needs.
